Integrative Cardiology

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States. However, it is largely preventable with the influence of physical activity, metabolic factors, nutrition and your emotional state. Integrative Cardiology is a perfect way to utilize a functional medicine approach to treat and prevent heart disease, while allowing patients to take an active role in their treatment. Dr. Bargas is a board-certified cardiologist incorporating functional medicine into her practice in the state of Oklahoma.

Dr. Bargas manages all aspects of cardiovascular disease and electrophysiology, including implanted cardiac device management, treatment and prevention of heart failure, coronary artery disease and preoperative cardiac evaluations. Dr. Bargas offers second opinions, and is completely independent and therefore has no bias toward one facility or provider. Services provided in the office include electrocardiograms, Holter monitors, mobile telemetry and event monitors. She is credentialed at Alliance Health Midwest, Integris Deaconess, Integris Baptist, Oklahoma Heart Hospital – South, University of Oklahoma Medical Center and OU Edmond.

Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine is a science-based personalized healthcare approach that addresses and treats underlying causes of illness through individually tailored evaluations and therapies that restore health and improve function. The functional medicine approach addresses the root cause of disease and has a lasting benefit beyond simply improving symptoms temporarily.

Comprehensive assessment involves extensive gathering of a detailed history and physical exam as well as laboratory studies, all which lead to an individualized plan to achieve total wellness.

Group Visits

Group visits are an important facet of the “new model” of care as chronic illness is proving to be one of the most pressing public health issues of the 21st century. Group visits allow physicians to deliver extensive patient education and self-management instruction to several patients at one time. In addition, group visits offer patients with similar illnesses an opportunity to interact with and learn from one another.

Although they allow peer interaction, group visits are not support groups and include elements of an individual patient visit, such as the collection of vital signs, history taking and physical exam. Group visits have been shown to result in improved medication compliance as well as lower HbA1c levels in diabetics. Dr. Bargas conducts regular group visits for a variety of diagnoses in the Wellness Room.

Hormone Balance

Hormone Balance

Hormones such as estrogen, testosterone, adrenaline and insulin are highly important chemical messengers that can cause major issues in your overall health. A hormone imbalance is caused when one or more parts of the endocrine system are even slightly imbalanced including your thyroid, adrenals, pituitary, ovaries, testicles and pancreas. Bargas Wellness will do a comprehensive hormone analysis to help guide us in achieving hormone balance for our patients. It is a little-known fact that a person can suffer from hypothyroidism even when the standard lab tests are within the “normal” range. If you suffer from weight gain, lack of sleep, hot flashes, insomnia, irritability and fatigue but have been told over and over that “everything is normal,” Bargas Wellness can help you!
