Functional medicine is personalized, science-based
What is Functional Medicine?
Integrative Medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person, including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between practitioner and patient, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapies.
Why Functional Medicine?
Conventional medicine is good at putting patients in a box and labeling a set of signs and symptoms with a diagnosis which can be treated with a series of pharmaceuticals. After more than 10 years of practicing medicine that way Dr. Bargas wanted something more for her patients. Do you want a doctor willing to think outside the box to get to the root cause of dysfunctional processes and work to reverse them rather than take one pharmaceutical after another to make the numbers on paper look better but all the while you FEEL worse and worse?
Dr. Bargas has stepped outside of this comfort zone of conventional medicine. Functional medicine means going above and beyond. She can prescribe medications when indicated but this is not her default plan. Being integrative means spending extra time discussing how all pillars of wellness contribute to risk and illness. In a nutshell, being integrative means treating people, not disease.
